My second summer

My second summer

As a returning intern, I quickly ramped up on product domain knowledge, and was initially tasked to revamp a product's Settings page. Beyond that, I fully immersed myself in various tasks from research to working on design systems.

Achievement

Achievement

Over the 12 weeks, I (1) delivered hi-fi designs, prototypes, (2) collaborated with PMs, designers, engineers, writers to polish designs, (3) organized research insights, (4) created complex design components to accelerate workflow.

My work here is, understandably, under NDA so I can't share too much.

Collaboration, communication, and organization

Collaboration, communication, and organization

I came to learn that collaboration works differently in remote team settings. I adapted to managing communication across team meetings, group chats, channels, and Figma comments—each with their own pros and cons.

I learned to be intentional about documenting design decisions, clarifying next steps, and over-communicating when needed to avoid misalignment. Through this, I improved at giving and receiving feedback asynchronously, ensuring that product changes were transparent and updates were clearly tracked.

Breadth and depth of being a product designer

Breadth and depth of being a product designer

A huge part of this experience was observing and shadowing senior designers on the team, which gave me invaluable insight into the day-to-day realities of product design. Through active reflection and feedback, I practiced how to identify design gaps, prioritize what needs attention, and think critically about the impact behind design choices. I was able to contribute to research, iterating on design system components, and applying these lessons to my own work.

A huge thank you to my mentors, manager, team collaborators, and other interns for making this a very special time for me 💚
